Fantasy Baseball 2018: 4 Trending Hitters to Pick Up
By Neil Ragavan
This article looks at some recent upward-trending hitters to consider for your Fantasy Baseball lineup.
Gerardo Parra– OF Colorado Rockies
After a tough April in which he hit only .232 and slugged .275, Gerardo Parra has turned his fantasy baseball season around. He hit .329 in May and .354 in June. Over his last 15 games, he has hit .362/.396/.596 with 17 RBIs, and has only struck out seven times. Parra usually doesn’t play against lefties, as he is batting .185 against them, while hitting .348 against righties. He’s still widely available in most leagues, as he is only 24.4% owned in ESPN leagues and 23% owned in Yahoo Leagues.

Aaron Hicks– OF New York Yankees
Back in 2015, the Yankees weren’t sure what they were getting in Aaron Hicks. They knew he had potential, but it had not shown in Minnesota. However, the former first round pick is starting to realize that potential. Over his last 30 games, Hicks has hit .287 with 10 homers, 20 RBI and has slugged .639. In his last 15 games, he has hit .328 and has an OBP of .403. Playing in Yankee Stadium with the short porch definitely helps, as Hicks has power to all fields and is a switch hitter. He also hasn’t had to sacrifice a ton of playing time, as Yankees manager Aaron Boone usually puts either Aaron Judge or Giancarlo Stanton at DH. Hicks is currently 59.2% owned in ESPN leagues and 62% owned in Yahoo leagues, but if he keeps having performances like this, he won’t be on the waiver wire much longer.
Ben Zobrist– 2B, OF Chicago Cubs
After a forgettable 2017, Zobrist has bounced back this season, hitting .296 with 6 home runs and 32 RBIs. While he hasn’t provided much in the power department, Zobrist has been getting on base at the clip of .391. In his last 15 games, he is hitting .333 with 2 homers, 7 RBIs, 8 walks, and 9 runs scored. Over his last 30 games, he is hitting .319, has an OBP of .416, and has more walks than strikeouts. The Cubs have a crowded outfield, and Javy Baez usually starts at second base, so playing time isn’t always 100% guaranteed for Zobrist. However, with the Kris Bryant injury, expect Zobrist to get more reps, and if he continues to hit like he has recently, it will be hard for Joe Maddon to keep him out of the lineup.
Johan Camargo– 2B, SS, 3B Atlanta Braves
The Braves entered 2018 with a lot of uncertainty as to who was going to play third base. For the time being, Johan Camargo seems to be the answer. His overall numbers, .260 with 9 homers and 37 RBIs, may not leap off the screen, but he is starting to become a productive hitter. Over his last 15 games, Camargo is hitting .351 with 3 homers and 14 RBIs, and getting on base at a rate of .406. His overall OBP for the season is at .363, and he is hitting .304 with runners in scoring position. Camargo is only owned in 11.2% of ESPN leagues and 14% of Yahoo Leagues, so he is an under-the-radar pickup you can make for your team.
