MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: July 6th

Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 14 games with, Washington (5.3), New York (5.3), Cleveland (5.3), Boston (5.3), and Houston (5.1), holding the best projected team totals. With expensive pitchers like, Chris Sale, Jacob deGrom, and Lance McCullers, available, finding value will be crucial for success tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, and line movement.

MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats

Manuel Margot – DK $3700, FD $2600

Manuel Margot will offer tremendous value on FanDuel tonight, as he only costs $2600. Margot hasn’t done much from a fantasy production standpoint recently, but his batted ball stats would indicate that positive regression could be on the way. In last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 28 feet, his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 17%, over his yearly average.

Batter Splits

Joc Pederson – DK $4500, FD $3600

Although he’s much more affordable on FanDuel, Joc Pederson will be a viable option on both sites tonight. Pederson, a lefty, will draw an advantageous matchup against the righty, Felix Pena. Pederson is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .368 wOBA split (.163 better than when facing a lefty) and a .284 ISO split (.220 better than when facing a lefty).

Yasmani Grandal – DK $3900, FD $3200

Yasmani Grandal is another, cheaper, option from the Dodgers tonight. Grandal is a switch hitter, but is much more productive against righties. Grandal currently holds a .340 wOBA split (.056 better than when facing a lefty) and a .246 ISO split (.167 better than when facing a lefty). The total for this game opened at 8.5 runs, but has since moved up a half of a run, to 9 runs. This should come as a good sign to the Dodgers’ hitters, that are in enticing matchups.

Line Movement

Michael Foltynewicz – DK $10500

Atlanta will be on the road tonight, as they face the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee opened as -130 favorites, and although the number has moved around a bit, it remains fairly close to the opening value. However, the total is a different story. The game total opened at 8.5 runs, but has since dropped a full run, to 7.5 runs. This is a very significant move given it’s a full run, through a key number of eight, and without much action coming in on the under (roughly 48%). Michael Foltynewicz should stand to benefit from this movement and makes for an excellent value play on FanDuel, at only $8800. Foltynewicz will also have attractive strikeout upside, as he holds a K/9 of 10.222 and Milwaukee is extremely susceptible to strikeouts from right-handed pitching.
