The Rockies starting rotation has pitched well in recent weeks. If you need to add a pitcher to your team, Tyler Anderson is someone worth adding.

Over the last decade, fantasy owners lived my one motto when looking at the Colorado Rockies. Avoid the pitchers and stack up on the hitters. That is not the case anymore. This season has seen some great performances from Rockies pitchers, especially at home. One of them has pitched well over the last couple of weeks and that is Tyler Anderson.

Anderson has won three of his last five starts with four quality starts in his last six appearances. In his last two starts, Anderson has back-to-back eight shutout innings with a combined six hits, three walks and 17 strikeouts. He has a 3.90 ERA and 1.22 WHIP on the season.

Digging deeper into the numbers, Anderson has improved his batted ball profile in each month this season. He’s giving up fewer fly balls (which helps when pitching in Coors Field) and inducing more ground balls. Opposing batters’ hard-hit rates have dropped in the summer months as well.

More from FanSided

Anderson hasn’t allowed more than two walks in a start since June 1 when he allowed three to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’s had good success against some of the National League’s top-hitting teams like Philadelphia and the Dodgers (his second time facing them).

Anderson will make his next start at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona scored 20 runs in their last game but scored a combined 23 runs in their previous six games. The team is struggling at home, .238 average in Chase Field. They aren’t hitting better on the road, .225 average this season.

The Rockies offense is having better success with two batters hitting over .300 and three more hitting over .270. The team has four hitters with at least 16 home runs. Anderson has plenty of run support to carry him to a win.

Fantasy owners are already jumping on the Anderson bandwagon. He’s been added in 18 percent of ESPN leagues and 28 percent of CBS Sports leagues over the last week. However, he’s still widely available. Anderson is owned in just 28.0 percent of ESPN leagues.

Anderson has a favorable matchup in his next start. If you want to get a jump-start in your pitching categories in your head-to-head matchup or earn a couple of more points in your Roto league before the All-Star break, then Anderson is ripe for the picking.
