DFS GOLF: John Deere Classic – OB’s Lineup
DFS Golf: The John Deere Classic
Welcome to another edition of DFS Golf, OB’s Lineup. This is a weekly DFS Golf column that dives into the current PGA Tour week’s picks, plays, and advice. OB’s Lineup is specifically built on FanDuel, but the advice carries over all daily fantasy platforms. This week, we look into the “John Deere Classic” with hopes to collect another week’s earning.

Course Information
TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois is an incredible construction of a golf course. Regardless of play, the links remain in top condition throughout the golf year and the engineering behind the course is spectacular. The course play could best be described as crafty. It’s going to take golfers an accurate outing in order to win this tournament. We see plenty of elevation changes with surfaces that could promote issues. Hardwood trees, slates of rock, and small ponds could all interfere with the play of ball-strikers.
Statistically, we’re staying away from the less accurate players and attacking golfers who can paint the fairways. This would be players that lead in Proximity to the Hole and Birdie or Better Rate. TPC Deere Run is sure to become a birdie marathon this year.
DFS Golf: OB’s Lineup
With a lot of big names off this slate, it is important to chase consistency at the top of the queue and upside in the lower price range. The lower priced players on this lineup are interchangeable to your thoughts. Flexibility at the bottom is the ticket this week.
Zach Johnson (FD $11,700)
I never thought I’d see the day where Zach Johnson‘s price-point is up near 12k but here we are! This should be a sign as to how thin this slate is but Johnson is honestly a great top-tier guy to have. He fits the stats we are attacking perfectly as he is T2 in Proximity to the Hole and should be able to flex his skills at this course. Also, Johnson has been playing incredibly as of late placing T20 in his past two of three appearances. Buy Johnson at the top and ignore DeChambeau. I don’t believe Bryson will repeat. Johnson is the best option at the top.
Chesson Hadley (FD $10,600)
Hadley is one of my favorite buys this week. The course fits his play style so well that its impossible to pass up the 31-year-old. Hadley saw a small dip in production over the past month but had a very strong outing at the Quicken Loans National with a T8 finish carried by his 10 strokes gained through the last three rounds of golf. The American is eighth in Proximity to the Hole so he statistically should be able to perform well at TPC Deere Run. He is due for his second tournament win and I am confident it could be here.
Austin Cook (FD $10,200)
We almost picked a tournament win for Cook last week so why not buy into the kid this week? He has been hot as of late and proves his worth to golf fans day in and day out with very impressive rounds. His 65.6 fantasy points per game is now considered to be his floor rather than his average as he has placed T40 13 times this year and should certainly do it again this weekend. This is another player searching for a first place finish and it is certainly in the realm of possibilities for Cook.
Kevin Tway (FD $9,300)
Tway is never typically featured in this column but I have a new-found appreciation for him. His price is reasonable enough that I am actually heavily invested in him and believe he will shine this weekend. He is the only guy within the 9k range that I am truly excited to play because I feel that he can outperform his current grouping. While he is interchangeable, he is a solid round two player and I believe he can play well enough to not only make the cut but be a T10 candidate. However, buy knowing the fact that he could either boom or bust this week.
Chez Reavie (FD $9,200)
For those of you who haven’t read this column before, I throw Chez in most of my lineups every week because he always seems to perform in a price range where people typically don’t make the cut. Like I’ve said every time I play Chez, he is always too cheap and is an experienced veteran. The vet always plays well on smaller venues like this and actually has a shot to make this tournament one to remember. Come on, its Chez. A true Pro’s Pro.
Abraham Ancer (FD $8,900)
Ancer promotes a very similar appeal in comparison to Austin Cook. Both very young talented guys searching for wins amongst the other elite golfers. Ancer is underrated and it is proven with this disrespectful price-point. If you take anything away from this column it is to buy Ancer low to free up some capital higher up on the slate because he is most certainly going to return value. Buy low and celebrate the high ceiling of Ancer when watching this weekend’s John Deere Classic.
