4. Jeurys Familia

Familia is a perfect fit for a contender looking to add another arm to the back-end of their bullpen. He’s been a reasonably effective closer for the Mets despite not getting a ton of chances to wrap up wins.

He has 16 saves on the season, but the more important number is his quality ERA of 3.28. He’s also striking out over one batter per inning pitched. He isn’t likely to get a shot at closing games for a contender, but he would be an excellent addition to pitch the 7th or 8th inning.

Familia is also due to hit free agency after the conclusion of this season. That should drive his price down pretty significantly. In other words, contenders looking for a quality bullpen arm should be able to swing a deal for Familia on the cheap. The Mets might start with a high asking price, but they’ll need to accept whatever the market provides.

Much like Wheeler, the Mets need to be prepared to accept any sort of quality prospect in exchange for Familia. He’s a player they should be actively shopping ahead of the deadline. If he’s still a Met when July 1st arrives then the team’s front office has mishandled the situation.
