Sprinters get another chance at the 2018 Tour de France on Stage 4. Here is how to watch the action from La Baule to Sarzeau live online.

After participating in the team time trial on Monday, the sprinters return into the spotlight in Stage 4. Beginning in the seaside resort town of La Baule, riders encounter rollers throughout the first half of the stage. The roads, though, never pitch higher than 210 feet above sea level through the first 60 miles of racing.

It is a course built for two purposes. First, a long breakaway is likely going to coalesce sometime in the first 10 to 12 miles before the peloton reaches La Chapelle-des-Marais. That group will serve as the rabbit for sprinters and their teams to chase throughout the Breton afternoon.

An intermediate sprint in Derval 60 miles into the stage gives sprinters an early chance to gain points in the green jersey battle. The fourth-category Côte de Saint-Jean-la-Poterie, coming in the 85th mile, offer an opportunity for one lucky mountain goat to gain a point in the polka dot jersey competition.

A false flat at the finish is tailor made for the sprinters. Rising 43 feet over the last two thirds of a mile, the road gently slopes up to the finish line in Sarzeau. A few roundabouts in the final mile entering Sarzeau could create similar problems to the crash that felled Fernando Gaviria on Sunday while he was in yellow.

Gaviria will be in the mix, as will Stage 2 winner Peter Sagan. The five-time green jersey winner leads the points competition with more than 100 points already through the first few stages. A cyclist like Alexander Kristoff, John Degenkolb, or Michael Matthews could also come through in this stage alongside favorites like Gaviria, Sagan, and the veteran German pair of Marcel Kittel and André Greipel.

If the skies do open up on Tuesday in Brittany, it could make things interesting for the sprint. Look for Fernando Gaviria and the Quick Step team to look for redemption after crashing out of the yellow jersey on Stage 2 over the weekend. Gaviria should stay upright this stage, and the Colombian will battle once again with Sagan, Greipel, Kittel, and the rest of the speedsters for another stage win in the first week.
