3 things we learned from the Browns Hard Knocks trailer
The teaser trailer for HBO’s Hard Knocks, featuring the Cleveland Browns, has been released. Here’s what we learned.
A team coming off a winless season would normally not be a good feature subject for HBO’s Hard Knocks. But the Cleveland Browns are interesting, after an active offseason and the drafting of Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield No. 1 overall in April.
Mayfield’s competition with Tyrod Taylor for the starting job under center will surely be featured prominently, as will the battle to replace future Hall of Famer Joe Thomas at left tackle. The tenuous status of head coach Hue Jackson is also sure to come up, especially now with former Steelers offensive coordinator (and Chiefs head coach) Todd Haley taking the theoretical reigns of the offense in Cleveland.
HBO has released the first teaser trailer for this year’s Hard Knocks, and here’s what we learned.
1. Browns Fans Are Fiercely Loyal
If you didn’t know it already, the “Dawg Pound” is not necessarily a strict “Factory of Sadness.” They see their team as a representative of their city, and each year “Hope Springs Eternal.” The franchise’s long run of ineptitude is a tie that seems to bind Browns fans.
2. For What It’s Worth, The Talent Level Is Seriously Upgraded
In a few clips, from OTAs and/or minicamp, we see how the Browns talent level has been upgraded this offseason by general manager John Dorsey. Mayfield, Josh Gordon, David Njoku, Jarvis Landry, Taylor, Carlos Hyde and rookie running back Nick Chubb are all seen doing their thing on the practice field. Gordon and Njoku are holdovers from last year, with Gordon out of the mix for awhile prior to his return, but the rest are all completely new to the Browns this year.

3. Hard Knocks Is Less Than A Month Away
As usual Hard Knocks will start in early August, and we know the first episode will come on Tuesday, Aug. 7 this year.
