The soft drink brand associated with high energy and action sports is sticking with NASCAR and one of its top young drivers.

Mountain Dew, or Mtn Dew as it now prefers to be called, has had a presence in NASCAR for some time. Not only does the soft drink brand’s image fit in perfectly with the high speeds and excitement of stock car racing, it’s also been a great match with drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr., and together, they’ve given us some memorable moments both on the track and in commercials and the like. With Junior now in the broadcast booth, Dew has turned to his former Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott to partner up, and it appears that partnership will continue.

Mtn Dew announced today that it had extended its sponsorship deal with Elliott and Hendrick Motorsports through the 2020 NASCAR season. As part of the agreement, Mtn Dew will appear as the primary sponsor on Elliott’s No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet for four Cup Series races per year, as well as serving as an associate sponsor for all other events.

Elliott has already sported Mtn Dew colors three times in 2018, during The Clash at Daytona in February, at Bristol in April to promote Mtn Dew Baja Blast and with Little Caesars at Michigan in June.

“It means a lot to partner with a brand like Mtn Dew that has such a storied history in racing,” Elliott said in a press release. “I appreciate everything they’ve done for the sport, for our team and for me personally. We’ve been able to do cool things away from the track, from snowboarding in the mountains to riding ATVs in the desert. That aspect of the relationship is really fun, and I’m excited to keep it going for DEW Nation.”

What might also be fun is of Mtn Dew is on the hood for Elliott’s first career NASCAR Cup Series victory, something that seems ever so close but so far has remained tantalizingly elusive for the 22-year-old driver. Assuming he doesn’t make it to Victory Lane before then, he’ll have a chance to go for that first checkered flag in Dew colors at the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 21, the final race of the Round of 12 of this year’s NASCAR Playoffs.
