Betting odds are out for where Kawhi Leonard will play next season
Multiple teams may be interested in Kawhi Leonard, but according to one online sportsbook there’s a team that quite literally has the best odds.
Kawhi Leonard seems to be all but done with the San Antonio Spurs, and alongside his reported preference to play in Los Angeles a few other teams have surfaced as potential trade suitors. The Spurs reportedly have a significant asking price, as they probably should, and there’s a chance they just ride it out for one more season with a potentially disgruntled player.
Seemingly out of the blue, the Toronto Raptors surfaced early this week as a team “generating buzz” to pull off a deal to get Leonard. In terms of sending a proven assets to the Spurs in a trade for Leonard, one or the other of Toronto’s backcourt tandem of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan looks like a good starting point.
Apparently, with updated odds released on Thursday, at least one betting site agrees with Toronto’s buzz-worthy status as a Leonard suitor.
MyBookie has the Raptors at even money as the team Leonard will play for next season, followed by the Spurs, Lakers, Clippers, 76ers and Celtics. Then in terms of actual likelihood things get dicey quickly, with the Bucks, Knicks, Cavaliers, Rockets and Nets and all sitting at least +1000 and “the field” wrapping up the list at +500. Not that long ago the Raptors would have surely been included in “the field” among possible Leonard trade destinations. But they have been rising among odds makers, and are now a proverbial favorite.

Until Leonard is dealt somewhere, or he and the Spurs somehow mend fences out of the blue, the trade rumors are not going away. At this rate things may linger into August, just as they did last year before Kyrie Irving was traded from the Cavaliers to the Celtics. But if you’re putting money on where Leonard plays next season, some level of experts on the matter say the Raptors are the choice.
