MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: July 13th
MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: July 13th
Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 15 games with, Colorado (6.7), Boston (5.6), Seattle (5.4), Houston (5.4), and Chicago (5), holding the best projected team totals. There aren’t many expensive pitchers on the slate, so finding players in advantageous matchups should take precedence tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.
MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats
Daniel Palka – DK $3600, FD $2600
Chicago will host the visiting Kansas City Royals tonight, and outfielder, Daniel Palka, will be viable option in DFS. Palka has been hitting the ball much better of late. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 22 feet, his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 6%, over his yearly average. Palka will be a tremendous value option tonight on FanDuel, as he only costs $2600.
Batter Splits
Matt Adams – DK $3800, FD $3200
Matt Adams will a bit more of a contrarian play tonight, as his price is steep, but he’ll draw an advantageous matchup against the righty, Noah Syndergaard. Adams is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .369 wOBA split (.110 better than when facing a lefty) and a .275 ISO split (.153 better than when facing a lefty).
Bryce Harper – DK $5000, FD $3900
Bryce Harper is another lefty bat from the Nationals to consider tonight. Harper is also much better against right-handed pitching, with a .382 wOBA split (.046 better than when facing a lefty) and a .306 ISO split (.130 better than when facing a lefty). Harper is a much more attractive option on FanDuel as he only costs $3900. This is over a $1000 price drop, from where he was priced in early June.
Line Movement
WAS Batters
Washington will be on the road tonight, as they face the New York Mets, at Citi Field. The Mets opened this game as -140 favorites, but the line has since moved, to -118. In addition to the movement on the side, the total has also changed. The game total opened at 7.5 runs, but has since moved up a half of a run, to 8 runs. Washington will face Noah Syndergaard, who is making his first return back since leaving in late May with a strained ligament in his index finger. This type of line movement could be telling us that there may be some concern over Thor’s health tonight.
Stolen Base Upside
Trea Turner – DK $4200, FD $3500
If the Washington batters don’t get it done at the plate, they could be able to rack up fantasy points on the base paths. Syndergaard has allowed 12 stolen bases over just 64.2 innings this year. This large number should benefit base runners like Trea Turner, who’s stolen 22 bases this year (Tied for 4th most).
Starling Marte – DK $5000, FD $3700
Another interesting matchup to take a look at, is Starling Marte vs. Junior Guerra. While not nearly as high as Thor, Guerra has surrendered 7 stolen bases over the course of 93.2 innings. This could lead to an increased stolen base upside for Marte, as he’s currently second in the league in stolen bases, with 23.
