WNBA DFS Lineup Advice 7/14/2018 (Fanduel and DraftKings)
By EJ Whelan
Welcome to the Saturday edition of WNBA DFS Lineup Advice, a fantasy basketball column dedicated to finding you the best key players and value picks on today’s slate to build your lineups around.
We have a special edition of WNBA DFS Lineup Advice today for the single game GPPs on Fanduel and DraftKings. Most other sites don’t bother doing write-ups for single game slates. Some analysts don’t want to “waste their time” on a short slate. Others are afraid of making recommendations with such a small player pool where there is less room for error and mistakes are magnified. Here at FantasyCPR.com no potato is too small, if there’s a WNBA slate – we want to help you win money – whether it is for 1 game or 6 games!
The Dallas Wings take on the Seattle Storm tonight at 9pm ET. These are two of my favorite WNBA teams to watch and should be a great game. As much as I like watching WNBA though, I like winning money more! So let’s jump into the slate, go over some picks for the MVP-STAR-PRO position, find some good utility plays, and go win some money!!!

Fanduel – $4 entry fee (150 max) 2,380 total entries 1st place prize – $1,000
DraftKings – $10 entry fee (35 max) 1,176 total entries 1st place prize – $2,000
WNBA DFS – MVP, STAR, PRO Picks
Breanna Stewart – Once again I am going to Breanna Banana as my MVP today on both sites. The matchup isn’t great, but none of the other top options are in a good spot today either. She’s the only player I feel safe paying up for in cash games today and has plenty of GPP upside as well. LineStar has her projected to score 49.85 points on Fanduel, 47.06 on DraftKings. Stewie will be chalky tonight, but for good reason. Don’t get cute, just stick her in your lineup and go win some money.
Liz Cambage – Things were looking pretty good on Friday before Cambage got tossed from the game with 2 minutes left in the first half. She hasn’t played more than 30 minutes in a game so far this month. I expect her ownership to be low, and she has GPP upside, but there are better options in the paint today for the Wings. If you want to go against the the grain today Cambage might be the play for you. You may not win – but at least people will admire the size of your big brass….
Skylar Diggins-Smith – Smith had a big game against the Sparks after Liz got ejected. She scored 22 points and had 11 assists. She get’s a tough matchup tonight though. It’s a pace down game for Dallas, and the Storm don’t give up many fantasy points to guards. She has the ceiling to be worth MVP or STAR consideration in GPPs, but I would rather pay up for the guards on the other side of the ball.
Sue Bird – If Bird plays tonight I will have a good amount of exposure to her in my lineups on Fanduel. There is a chance the Storm rest her tonight though, especially after playing 35 minutes against the Sparks. She doesn’t have the upside as some of the other options on the slate but she is the safest play on the board for cash.
Natasha Howard – Howard has one of the best matchups on paper today amongst the top options on the slate. It’s an up pace game for her, and the Wings give up a decent amount of rebounds and field goals to opposing centers. Teams playing Dallas this season are blocking shots at a rate of 9.3%. She doesn’t play a lot of minutes though, and rarely drops a dime. You won’t get a lot of field goal attempts from her, but she is a good shooter. I won’t have much exposure to her today, but with her price and upside it’s hard not to throw her in a few lineups.
Jewell Loyd – I like Loyd on DraftKings today where you can save $2000 instead of playing Bird in the utility spot. Her production has dropped off recently, she hasn’t had a big game since 6/22 against the Indiana Fever. Her ownership should be pretty low today. Loyd is my contrarian play of the day on Fanduel, it’s risky but she has GPP upside and can separate you from the pack if she plays well tonight.

Can the rookie from UCONN help carry you into the money today?
WNBA DFS – UTILITY Picks
Azura Stevens – The rookie from UCONN has been making waves in the WNBA this season. She has been filling up the stat sheet and has scored in double digits in her last 5 games. Her minutes fluctuate a bit, but she gets a good matchup off the bench tonight. LineStar has her projected to score 27.15 points on Fanduel today, 26.14 on DraftKings. I think Stevens will be pretty chalky today, and there’s a chance she only plays about 22 minutes. I will have some exposure to her, but I’m not as high on her tonight as I usually am.
Glory Johnson – She has been playing big minutes lately. Most of her fantasy production has come from rebounds and defensive stats. Dallas rebounds the ball the well but Seattle is close behind them in the standings. It will be a battle on the glass today. LineStar has Johnson projected to score 22.69 fantasy points on Fanduel, on DraftKings it’s 21.78. She is cheaper than Stevens on DK, and has shown some decent GPP upside recently. She is worthy of PRO spot consideration on Fanduel today.
Alysha Clark – LineStar has Clark projected to score 19.61 points on DraftKings. I think she will do a little better than that today. It’s an up pace game for Seattle, she plays a ton of minutes, and the Wings give up around 20 fantasy points a game to small forwards. She probably won’t get you 30 points and her floor is a little shaky, but she makes a decent option at utility today. If you want to pivot to Allisha Gray or Kayla Thornton and save a little salary on Fanduel that’s fine. Her price on DK is fair, but I would rather pay up a few hundred and get Johnson or Stevens.
Jordin Canada – I have a feeling Sue Bird might get the night off. If that happens Canada becomes on of my favorite utility plays on the slate. Her minutes have been declining recently though, and if Bird plays I won’t have any exposure to Canada.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis – It is still unclear if Kaleena will play tonight. She still has to pass through concussion protocol. I don’t think she will suit up tonight, but if she does she makes a decent option at utility. Her absence won’t really open up any value and shouldn’t change things that much. Howard may get a few extra minutes, Clark is already on the court a lot regardless. She is super cheap on DK but you are better off saving a few bucks and rostering Paris, Langhorne or Davis.
