The final between France and Croatia proved worthy of the great tournament Russia 2018 turned out to be. Here are the fan reactions to the game.

The World Cup final between France and Croatia produced six goals and proved to be a back-and-forth affair for the entire 90 minutes.

It also had France and Croatia fans biting their nails and cheering profusely for their beloved national teams.

In the end, France, winners of the World Cup in 1998, got the better of the underdog Croatians. Nevertheless, the match produced passion and celebrations for both sides. Here’s a look back at the best fan reactions to Sunday’s game in Moscow.

France took the lead after just 18 minutes when a Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic redirected a free-kick into his own net. The own goal sparked celebrations across France, especially among the thousands gathered at the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Ten minutes later, a beautiful goal from Ivan Perisic leveled the score, unleashing joy for Croatians gathered in the capital Zagreb.

Antonie Griezmann’s penalty in the 38th minute, following a Perisic handball, made it 2-1 France.

With France up a goal at the half, Les Bleus fans everywhere were confident, including this group gathered in New York.

France piled on the goals in the second half. Paul Pogba’s strike in the 59th minute seemed to put the game out of reach.

France made it 4-1 six minutes later with Kylian Mbappe.

Game over? Not a chance. The comeback Croatians, who outnumbered France supporters in the Lushniki Stadium, went wild when Mandzukic took advantage of a Hugo Lloris blunder in the 69th minute to make it 4-2.

France, however, did enough to hang on to win its second World Cup title, adding to the one it captured 20 years ago on home soil. The party back in France was just getting started. They’re really going to party like it’s 1998!
