Aaron Donald started his career playing in all 13 games as a backup along Pitt’s defensive front as a freshman in 2010. As a sophomore, he moved into the starting lineup and became a standout compiling 47 tackles, 16 for a loss and 11 sacks.
By the time he was a junior, he was one of the best defensive players in the country. Despite playing on the interior and consistently drawing double teams, he still had 64 tackles including 18.5 for a loss and earn first-team All-Big East honors.
As a senior, Donald was unblockable. He again drew double teams on just about every play but still managed to put up 59 tackles, 28.5 tackles behind the line (which led the nation), 11 sacks and four forced fumbles. As a result, he racked up about every trophy imaginable for a defensive tackle. He was drafted with the 13th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by St. Louis.
Bonus Fact: At the 2014 NFL Draft Combine, Donald weighed in at just under 290 pounds and ran the fastest 40-yard dash ever by a defensive tackle at 4.68 seconds.
