  • Lombardi Award (2002)
  • Bronko Nagurski Trophy (2002)
  • Unanimous All-American (2002)
  • Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year (2002)
  • First-team All-Pac-10 (2002)

Terrell Suggs’ 163 career tackles in three seasons aren’t incredibly impressive. The fact that 65.5 of them were behind the line of scrimmage and 44 were for sacks is otherworldly though.

Suggs was good as a freshman in 2000 and even better as a sophomore in 2001. In 2002, he was the best pass rusher in NCAA history. With 24 sacks as a junior, Suggs set the single-season record that still stands today. In fact, no one has come within four sacks of his junior season total in the last 16 years since the record was set.

On top of his impressive sack totals, Terrell Suggs also forced 14 fumbles, recovered three and had two interceptions at Arizona. Following a standout collegiate career, he was drafted tenth overall by the Ravens, making him the highest Sun Devil draft pick since Gerald Riggs went ninth overall in 1982.

Bonus Fact: Suggs scored two touchdowns his freshman season, returning an interception 48 yards to score against Utah State and recovering a fumble which he took back for a touchdown against rival Arizona.
