LeBron James shows up for the Lakers Summer League game
By Jason Klaer
Donning a pair of purple and gold shorts, LeBron James visited Sin City Sunday to catch the Lakers take on Detroit.
After a winless stretch at the California Classic, the Lakers have won five-consecutive games. Its franchise player was in attendance to catch a Lakers’ win and advance in the bracket. James sat near the court with teammate Brandon Ingram.
Los Angeles is the No. 1 seed in the Vegas Bracket. L.A. handled the Pistons, 101-78. This mark is the second highest point total for the Lakers this summer. Five players scored in double figures for Los Angeles. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk notched 19 points while grabbing four boards.
There were two other storylines involved in this midsummer basketball tourney.
Despite live game action, James’ shorts were a talking point. The $500 shorts sold out immediately following his appearance. The placement of the logo is enthralling to say the least.
In Fact, a familiar franchise took the court near the end of the contest. The Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Toronto Raptors. As expected, James ran into his former coach. King James and Tyronn Lue exchanged words at some point. The pair hugged it out and went on with their respective days. Most notably, Lue suited up for L.A. from 1998-2001.
Meanwhile, the Lakers and Cavaliers meet in the semifinals. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. EST. Thus far, L.A. has cruised by competition. Additionally, Los Angeles has won its five summer league games by an average of 13.8 points. Unequivocally, the Cavs are surprising Vegas with a semi-finals berth. To emphasize, Collin Sexton netted 18 points in Cleveland’s quarterfinal victory over Toronto.

With this in mind, a sweet semifinal should treat fans. Ultimately, James cannot suit up for Los Angeles and will count on perhaps his future teammates to claim victory in Vegas.
