Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind is more than a documentary, it’s a tribute to the beloved late comedian. Here’s how to watch on TV and online.

HBO’s new documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind is a celebration of a legend who left us far too soon.

Described by HBO as “a funny, intimate and heartbreaking portrait of one of the world’s most beloved and inventive comedians,” the documentary utilizes interviews and clips from Williams along with interviews from many of his friends including Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin. Williams’ son Zak Williams also makes an appearance.

Director Marina Zenovich explores the “dualities” that challenged Williams his entire life. The comedian was widely known for the battles with drugs and alcohol that plagued him throughout his career, but no matter his struggles Williams always wanted to make people smile. No matter what was going on in his personal life, Williams worked hard to make sure the people around him were happy.

Page Six notes one of Williams’ best friends, comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, was invited to be part of the documentary but declined because it was still too hard to talk about Williams’ loss: “I wish them all the luck on the movie. I kind of stayed away. Our relationship is very personal.”

Bob Saget saw the film at the premiere in June and found it to be a fitting remembrance of his longtime friend: “I thought it was quite beautiful, quite touching and quite painful.”
