The British Open 2018 is here for the third major of the season, but what time will Round 1 start for The Open Championship on Thursday, July 19?

The third major championship of the 2018 PGA Tour season is officially upon us as the British Open will take over Carnoustie, Scotland this week. We all know that The Open Championship provides a unique set of circumstances each year. From the potential for wind to the normal lack of water to the pot bunkers, it’s always a fun and singular affair.

That could be even more so the case at Carnoustie for the British Open. A heat wave in Scotland this summer has left the course playing ridiculously fast in the fairways, but treatment has then left the greens playing slow. That should make for some crazy shots off of the tee, but then potential struggles on the green. All in all, fans should be ready for some wild golf.

Jordan Spieth enters this tournament as the defending champion at The Open, but he’s been struggling as of late. His putter — often reliable throughout his career — has been inconsistent on his best days and he’ll need to find something if he wants to compete for the Claret Jug once again.

Meanwhile, this is also the return of Tiger Woods to the British Open, which will surely have everyone watching. And yes, the heavy hitters like Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas and so many more will also be in the field.

Point blank, this isn’t a tournament that you want to miss. But with it being overseas, some fans in the United States might be wondering when they need to be ready to tune in. So then, when does Round 1 of the British Open start on Thursday, July 19?
