Loyalties were tested and battle lines drawn in the season 2 premiere of Snowfall on FX.

The second season of Snowfall began four months after the first, and some things had changed. At the end of Season 1 Teddy was being lauded for his work all the way up the command chain. At the beginning of season 2 the government seemed to be questioning the whole mission. And the results didn’t sit well with Lucia and Gustavo (or their people.)

Franklin

Meanwhile Franklin’s business continued to grow, and become more sophisticated. He had taken possession of a food truck and disguised his drug transactions in bags of chips and the like.

And as so often happens, as a person gains wealth/power/influence they want more of it. This is what kept Franklin’s business growing, and he wanted to take it even further. But to do that he needs help.

Franklin had to get one of his friends out of jail. Of course, coming up with large amounts of cash wasn’t too hard for him, but he didn’t want the others to know that. The idea that he had  a lot of money got out though, and some people broke into the house he was staying at that night. They both got shot, but the clean up was a bit more complicated. The cops couldn’t come around, both because of the drugs and the fact that the men were shot (pretty sure not everyone legally had a gun to begin with.) They decided to dispose of the men and clean up, just hoping no one had raised the alarm.

Teddy

Teddy kind of got the rug yanked out from under him when the government didn’t want to fund his operation. So we’ll see where he turns to get enough money. Because supporting  rebels against a regime is pretty expensive. He also had to go seek out one of his old accomplices/coworkers to help. He got the help, but wasn’t received with open arms as it were.

He had to go outside normal channels to find people to help him after some of his pilots (or maybe his only pilot) bailed.

Lucia and Gustavo

Lucia and Gustavo sought out an acquaintance trying to bring him into their circle of influence, as it were. The man was kind of understandably suspicious, and made Lucia try it  (maybe to prove it wasn’t poisoned.) She was a bit reluctant, I think this might have been her first time actually using the drug. We’ll see if it has any effect going forward. One ting it may have done was give her even more confidence in the drug catching on. When she finally got to meet with the woman in charge she offered to take on all the risk for help with distribution.

End Game

Later on Lucia and Gustavo were accosted at Lucia’s office by Pedro, who I believe they had been searching for the entire episode. What happens next is anyone’s guess. But I don’t think it will go too smoothly, I believe they killed his father in Season 1.

Franklin seemed to be having trouble finding a supplier. Meanwhile Teddy was preparing to receive drugs with no one to sell them. I wonder what’s coming with that. It led Teddy straight to Franklin, nice coincidence there. Teddy captured him by essentially T-boning his can and then knocking him out. It’s actually probably the best Franklin could hope for at this point regarding government people. I’m not sure Teddy is purely a government agent at this point. But we’ll have to wait till the second episode of Snowfall season 2 to find out.
