Willian

Willian has had a long and productive tenure at Chelsea. In his five seasons at Stamford Bridge, he’s won the Premier League twice as well as both the FA and Carabao Cups. He’s scored 25 goals as a Chelsea player, including eight in 2016-17, the club’s most recent Premier League-winning season.

Despite his success in London, the Brazilian winger wants to move on. He hasn’t submitted a formal transfer request, but has expressed a fondness for two potential suitors in Manchester United and Barcelona. He spoke highly of United when asked about Brazil teammate Fred’s recent move to the Red Devils. Willian referred to United as one of the “best teams in the world” when asked about Fred’s new home.

A move to United would be well within Willian’s comfort zone, as he experienced some of his best career moments under Jose Mourinho.

As for Barcelona, the Catalan giants have reportedly sent multiple bids to Chelsea for Willian, with the figure increasing each time. Jim White of Sky Sports reported on Monday that one such bid eclipsed 55 million Euros. Willian has personally stated to the Spanish media that he has a “great friend” at Barcelona in Philippe Coutinho.

A move to either club would be beneficial for Willian. If he goes to United, he would be reunited with a manager that brought him great success. If he leaves for Barcelona, he will immediately be in contention for several major trophies. Both clubs would give him the chance of playing in the Champions League, something he will not experience if he stays at Chelsea this year.
