1. James Foster comes back from injury to win gold in BMX Big Air

The Big Air course is one of the gnarliest courses in all of extreme sports. The men and women who chose to compete on this monster of a ramp have to be some of the toughest on the planet. James Foster, who took home the gold medal this year at BMX Big Air, knows a little something about being tough.

Foster was coming into 2018 as the favorite to win BMX Big Air, he took home the gold last year and was looking to improve this year. Flashback to a week before the 2018 X Games, Foster was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that could have kept him out of the competition altogether. Fortunately, Foster was not injured too badly and he was able to put together one of the baddest runs the fans have ever seen in a Big Air contest.

His gold medal run began with an enormous Superman seat grab over the 63-foot gap. Once he got up that huge 27-foot quarterpipe, Foster threw down a massive quadruple tailwhip. No other rider has attempted that trick in X Games history.

That trick was good enough to hold out the rest of the competition and secure his second gold medal in back to back years.
