Washington Wizards PG John Wall’s reaction to DeMarcus Cousins joining the Warriors was amazing.

It has been rumored for years that John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins wanted to reunite in the NBA after their successful stint with the Kentucky Wildcats together, and so the news that “Boogie” would join the Golden State Warriors came as quite a shock to Wall.

You can see his hilarious reacting here.

The rest of the league probably felt the same way about the Warriors adding a starter from the Western Conference All-Star team last season.

The lack of competitive balance in the NBA is definitely disappointing, especially after Golden State barely squeaked by the Houston Rockets due to a Chris Paul hamstring injury.

But Cousins hurting his Achilles last season set all of this up and it’s hard to blame the big man for wanting to go to a winning situation. Also, no one offered him a contract.

He’s been maligned around the league for some time as a guy who isn’t a team player and the fact that the New Orleans Pelicans and Anthony Davis thrived once Cousins went down didn’t help matters.

That’s the national narrative anyway, but people forget that New Orleans was on a winning streak before Cousins got hurt. But Davis’ personal numbers last year are hard to deny. He nearly grabbed the NBA Most Valuable Player award from James Harden with a late stretch of play.

The Wizards definitely would’ve been interested in adding Cousins, but the problem is they would need him to play right away. Also, they added Dwight Howard this summer, so Cousins would’ve had to live on the perimeter.

The Warriors, on the other hand, can afford to wait for him to fully rehabilitate his Achilles. Wall’s look of disbelief pretty much sums it up for everyone and hopefully another team can step up and challenge the defending champs next year.
