Wrestling legend Rey Mysterio recently spoke to Ringside Collectables and discussed his desire to end his professional wrestling career in WWE.
Rey Mysterio has been one of the most talked about wrestlers of the year, with speculation on whether or not he will be returning to the WWE. Well, this may seem to indicate that a WWE return is more likely than what people think. During an interview with Ringside Collectables at the San Diego Comic-Con, Mysterio indicated that he would like to end his professional wrestling career in WWE, which could be a major sign that he may be rejoining the company sometime real soon.
“It is in my agenda. I would definitely like to close out my career with WWE,” Mysterio said. “With that being said, I don’t have much left on my watch. So I’m thinking anywhere from three to five years and I can really see a possible return to WWE, without a doubt.”
If Mysterio does in fact decide to return to the WWE after all these years, a part-time schedule for the veteran may be the best option, due to his age and countless injuries he sustained over the years. Plus, a wrestler who’s not on WWE TV may be a good thing for Mysterio’s character to be rejuvenated once he does make an appearance.
Potential matches with the likes of AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, and even Roman Reigns could make for some interesting programming for WWE TV. Or maybe he can be brought back to work with some of the developmental talent on NXT to give that brand a bigger name to attract fans. Either way, it’s all up to Mysterio at this point on when he wants to come back or not. As he’s being advertised for the All In event this September, Mysterio may want to continue to mix it up with some of the independent wrestlers outside of the WWE for a while.
