Adam Jones

Now we’re getting into a little bit of a more flashy name. With the Orioles season long over it won’t be too surprising at all to see Adam Jones moved out. The five-time all-star is on an expiring deal so this would purely be a rental.

Jones is slashing .277/.304/.422 with 10 home runs and 38 runs batted in. Jones, who can play all three outfield position would add a name and depth to a below average outfielding core. To me, left field makes the most sense.

Matthew Joyce has played a majority of the games in left and by no means has been effective. Hitting just .203 with seven home runs and an OPS of .670 there is certainly room for improvement in left field.

Jones is a bit of a flashier name, so he might be slightly more costly. Slightly being the keyword. He’s well past his prime, not to the point of him not being effective, but to the point that he’s not worth nearly as much as he once was.

I’d be very surprised if it cost a top-10 prospect, but if you give up a mid-level and a lower level prospect that should be enough for the cost of a rental. Oakland will likely need Baltimore to eat some of the salary, but Baltimore will likely be willing to because it’ll drive up the asking price.
