McFarlane Toys is making Fortnite action figures
By David Rouben
The biggest video game in the world, Fortnite, can now be played on yet another platform as McFarlane Toys will be releasing a set of action figures for it.
It’s one year after the release of Fortnite and it doesn’t look like Epic Games will be stopping any time soon. There are a number of factors that have helped make the Battle Royale game the biggest in the world, including its free price tag, its support for cross-platform gameplay and the infectious dance moves. There are also new features to look forward to quite often, as the game’s first birthday has given the map a real festive makeover.
But for all the cool features Fortnite has on display, fans have never been able to play the game offline … until now. McFarlane Toys, the very popular toy company that makes action figures based on movies, comics, games and sports, will be releasing a Fortnite set this fall that you can take with you anywhere. The set is said to include seven-inch premium figures and high-end accessories.
Regarding the new set of action figures, CEO Todd McFarlane had this to say:
"The Fortnite brand has taken on global status and continues to grow each day. The game, with its sense of skill and irreverent fun, now has hundreds of character options to choose from, which is a tremendous blueprint for making any successful toy and action figure line …[E]veryone here at McFarlane Toys will be doing all we can to bring Fortnite fans the very best products."
He added that the set will showcase both “current and classic” looks from the game. Creative Director of Epic Games, Donald Mustard, said that fans are going to be “blown away” based on what he’s already seen so far.
McFarlane is no stranger to the video game industry, having already built a successful set of toys around Metal Gear Solid, Destiny and Assassin’s Creed. However, their most famous action figures remain their Walking Dead ones, as the attention to detail for characters like Negan and Carl are spectacular.
We should expect no different from this upcoming Fortnite set. They’ll surely want to show off as many skins as they can, include their most recognizable tools like the pick-axe and glider and even have one of them do the “take the L” dance. The possibilities are endless.
