MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: July 30th
MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: July 30th
Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features nine games with, Atlanta (5.1), Arizona (5.1), Cleveland (5), and Boston (4.9), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers like, Gerrit Cole, Kenta Maeda, and James Paxton available, finding value will be critical for success tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.
MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats
Edwin Encarnacion – DK $4600, FD $3800
Although his price has remained where it normally is, Edwin Encarnacion should probably be even more expensive, given his recent batted ball stats. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 12 feet, his exit velocity is up 2 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 23%, over his yearly average. $4600 is still a steep price tag, but given how well he’s been hitting the ball, there is some value here.
Batter Splits
Eddie Rosario – DK $5200, FD $3600
Eddie Rosario will draw an advantageous matchup tonight, as he faces the right, Shane Bieber. Rosario is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .403 wOBA split (.116 better than when facing a lefty) and a .284 ISO split (.170 better than when facing a lefty). Rosario is a much more viable option on FanDuel, as he only costs $3600.

Line Movement
Minnesota Batters
Minnesota will host the visiting Cleveland Indians, in a game in which Cleveland opened as -133 favorites. Since opening, this line has moved towards the Twins, and now sits at -119. In addition to the slight movement on the side, the total has also changed. The game total opened at 9.5 runs, but has moved up a half of a run, to 10. This could be a good indicator for the Minnesota batters, as they’ll get a crack at the righty, Shane Bieber. Bieber is coming off one of his worst outings, where he gave up seven earned and made it just 1.2 innings. His recent opposing batted ball stats back up his performance and show that his was no fluke. In his last 15 days, his opposing batted ball distance was 277 feet (most on the slate), his exit velocity was 103 (most on the slate), and his hard hit percentage was 80% (most on the slate).
Stolen Base Upside
Dee Gordon – DK $3400, FD $3000
Dee Gordon will draw an attractive matchup on the base paths tonight, as he’ll face the righty, Gerrit Cole. Cole has surrendered 12 stolen bases this year, over the course of 132.4 innings. Gordon has stolen 25 bases this year, tied for the league lead.
Boston Runners
Red Soxs’ runners should also be examined tonight, as they face the righty, Aaron Nola. Nola has allowed 16 stolen bases this year, over the course of 134 innings. This should benefit runners like Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi. Betts has 20 stolen bases this season, tied for 10th most.
