The Celtics have the greatest pro dynasty of all-time and are likely to always own that honor. Russell’s Celtics won 11 titles in 13 years, only failing to reach the Finals once over that stretch. It was domination not even Jordan can relate to and despite the smaller league and shortened route to the finish — it’s an absolutely mind blowing accomplishment.
The Celtics have one more title than the Lakers on the whole but a slightly lesser win percentage and 15 fewer trips to the Finals. The NBA’s best rivalry is an honest and legitimate one.
The Celtics went 21 years between Bird’s last title (1986) and the quartet of Garnett, Allen, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo winning in 2008. It’s been 10 years since, “Anything is possible!” And with the way Danny Ainge has the current team looking, I doubt the Celtics are waiting another 11 years before they see another banner.
But let’s check to make sure that’s ok with Pierce.
