The Houston Texans saw flashes of brilliance from two rookies last season, as both running back D’Onta Foreman and quarterback Deshaun Watson showed they can definitely get it done at the NFL level. Unfortunately, both players saw their season end due to leg injuries, and the team will take it slow with them this summer.

Foreman is currently on the active PUP list, and there is really no word as to whether or not he will be available when the Texans kick off their 2018 season against the New England Patriots. However, the last time we saw Foreman, he was running all over the Arizona Cardinals, and he could end up being an elite back in this league.

Sure, the Texans did pay big money for Lamar Miller, but he has not put together the kind of numbers they were hoping for. If healthy, Foreman gives them a much better option at the running back position, and Texans fans are used to seeing him run all over defenders during his time as an elite back for the Texas Longhorns.

The Texans third round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Foreman appeared in ten games last season before getting hurt, and it was his last game of the season that really stood out. In that game against Arizona, Foreman rushed the ball ten times for 65 yards, scored two touchdowns, caught three passes, and returned a kick.

That is a pretty big load for such a young player, but that is the kind of player you would be getting if he can stay healthy next season. If the Texans are going to win the AFC South, both Foreman and Watson have to be big, and while Watson broke out last season, it should be Foreman’s chance in 2018.
