2. New Orleans Saints

Like the Steelers, the Saints need to do everything possible to extend their star quarterback’s Super Bowl window. Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense would benefit massively from adding Mack to anchor their defense.

Remember, Sean Payton was so concerned about adding a big time pass rusher this offseason that he spent a fortune to move up in the draft to acquire Marcus Davenport in the first round. Clearly, Mack is a far superior player than the rookie from UTSA. He’s also a much better player than A.J. Klein. Presumably, Mack could knock Klein back into the reserve role he’s better suited to fill.

This is an organization that isn’t afraid to make a big move. Sometimes that means moving a big player like Brandin Cooks on down the line. At other times, it means bringing a big time player to the Big Easy. Swinging a deal for Mack would absolutely qualify.

The fact that the Saints are competing with the Falcons and Panthers in a loaded NFC South should urge them to take any big swing that comes available before the season starts. Payton and company should strongly consider making a Godfather offer for Mack. He could turn the Saints from fringe contenders to Super Bowl favorites. There aren’t too many players in the NFL who have the quality to make that sort of change for an organization. Mack is absolutely one of them.
