San Francisco Giants

The San Francisco Giants have been one of the more consistent franchises in the National League since Bruce Bochy took over as manager, and they are trying to hang in there in the National League this season. Sitting with a .500 record entering the trade deadline, the Giants were rumored to be sellers, but they stood pat with their roster and let the deadline pass.

One player who was rumored to be moved was outfield Andrew McCutchen, but the deadline came and went without him being shipped out of the Bay Area. The Giants do have some talented pieces on this roster, including one of the best catchers in the game in Buster Posey, but they have been way too inconsistent this season.

The biggest issue for this  team this season has been the injuries to their pitching staff, especially in the starting rotation. Guys like Johnny Cueto, Madison Bumgarner, and Jeff Samardzija have all spent time on the disabled list, leaving inexperienced starters to take the reins during the summer months.

If they can get those guys healthy at the same time, and can hang on to the Wild Card race, they will be a hard team to beat come playoff time. They also have the luxury of being battle tested in the playoffs, but the big question is whether or not they can get there.

Unfortunately for the Giants, this just does not look like a World Series team, although they have fooled us before. The NL West is going to beat each other up over the next two months, and the Giants just look like the odd man out right now.
