Grading every team’s World Series chances after the trade deadline

Chicago White Sox
One side of Chicago has a very legitimate shot to make the World Series this season, but on the other side, absolutely no chance. In fact, it may be a very long time before the Chicago White Sox are relevant again, though at least they were involved a little bit at the trade deadline.
Coming into July 31 with a record of 37-68, the White Sox are once again one of the worst teams in baseball. They have been atrocious in the field, on the mound, and at the plate, and in a division with only one winning team, the White Sox are incredibly already 20 games out of first place.
The White Sox utilized one of their bargaining chips at the trade deadline, trading away closer Joakim Soria to the Milwaukee Brewers. Soria goes from one of the worst teams in baseball to a potential World Series contender, and he has been more than a solid contributor for the White Sox this season.
Soria had appeared in 40 games for the White Sox this season, finishing out 29 contests for the team. He posted an earned run average of 2.56, and struck out well more than a batter per inning during his last season in Chicago.
Now he gets to go to the team chasing the other team in Chicago, the Cubs, who currently sit in first place in the NL Central. The White Sox have some young talent on this roster, but do not expect them to be in the World Series any time soon.
