Welcome to the Wednesday edition of WNBA DFS Lineup Advice, a fantasy basketball column dedicated to finding you the best key players and value picks on today’s slate to build your lineups around.

The Seattle Storm scored 100 points last night and the game went over the point total once again. The Patriots cover the spread. Storm games go over the point total. If you’re not betting on them you’re missing out on easy money. Now let’s talk DFS. We have two WNBA games starting at 7 p.m. ET. There are a lot of punt plays on the slate tonight, and only a few stars to mix and match them with. So let’s dive into the slate, find the right key players and value picks to build our lineups around, and go win some money!!!

Alyssa Thomas and Jonquel Jones watch from the bench as Briann January fires a shot from three-point range. Thomas is back from injury now but hasn’t shown much upside. Former 2017 WNBA All-Star Jones hasn’t seen much court time this year after starting all 34 games last season for the Suns. Can either one of them help your DFS lineups today? Find out below.

7 p.m. ET  New York Liberty (7-18)  vs. Connecticut Suns (14-12)  167 O/U CON -10

NY – Off rating 98.7 Def rating 105.8  Pace 79.2  Off ppg 78.8   Def ppg 84.8
CON – Off rating 106.2  Def rating 100.4  Pace 79.1  Off ppg  85.7 Def ppg 81

Key Players:

Tina Charles – Charles still has the highest usage rate in the WNBA at 29.7% and is averaging 20.2 points per game. She hasn’t been filling the stat sheet up anywhere else though and may have a tough time grabbing boards tonight. The Liberty need Charles to be at the top of her game if they want to have a chance at making the playoffs. That said, her price is a little too high today, especially on DK, and I won’t have any exposure to her in my lineups.

Alyssa Thomas – Thomas has underwhelmed since returning from injury. The matchup is favorable though, and her price tag is still relatively low for her ceiling. LineStar has her projected to score 31.33 points on Fanduel. She is strictly a GPP play today and a risky one at that. Jones makes a decent pivot for GPPs but is a bit pricey for a player coming off the bench.

Courtney Williams – Since her brawl with former teammate Alex Bentley she has been filling up the stat sheet. Her minutes haven’t been great though, and she doesn’t force many turnovers. I’m leaning towards Jasmine Thomas today, who should grab a few steals and get a decent amount of rebounds and assists. I just wish Jasmine would shoot the ball more.

Value Picks:  Sugar Rodgers (DK & FD)   Kia Nurse (FD  & DK)  Marissa Coleman (FD & DK)

LAS VEGAS, NV – MAY 27: (L-R) Nia Coffey #12, Lindsay Allen #15, A’ja Wilson #22, Kayla McBride #21 and Tamera Young #1 of the Las Vegas Aces walk on the court after a timeout during the Aces’ inaugural regular-season home opener against the Seattle Storm at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on May 27, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Las Vegas Aces have won 7 out of their last 10 games and are starting to look like playoff contenders. They meet the Mercury for the fourth time this season. Tonight, however, the point spread is on their side. Can rookie A’ja Wilson and the rest of the Aces keep their playoff hopes alive with a big win at home tonight? Keep reading to find out.

10 p.m. ET  Phoenix Mercury (15-12)  vs.  Las Vegas Aces (12-13)  174 O/U  LV -1.5

PHO – Off rating  104  Def rating 102.5  Pace  80.4  Off ppg  83.7 Def ppg 82.4
LV –  Off rating  99.3  Def rating 101.3  Pace  83.1  Off ppg  83  Def ppg 84.6

Key Players:

A’Ja Wilson – She’s averaging 20 points, 8.6 rebounds and almost 2 blocks per game. Her usage rate has risen to 29% and she plays better at home. She’s getting to the foul line and leads the league in free throws made at 5.9 per game. LineStar has her projected to score 43.55 points on Fanduel. I will have plenty of exposure to her in my lineups.

Brittney Griner – Griner also averages 20 points per game, on top of 7.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. Against Vegas this season those numbers rise to 20.6 points, 11 rebounds and 4.6 blocks per game. LineStar has her projected to score 39.28 points on Fanduel. The matchup looks good on paper, as long as her back holds up she’s in a good spot to return value tonight.

Diana Taurasi – The last time these two teams played I predicted that Taurasi would score over 30 points in a game for the first time this season. She scored 33. Tonight I think she gets her first double-double of the season. LineStar has her projected to score 37.61 points on Fanduel.  It’s the second day of a back-to-back for PHO but she only played 29 minutes last night. She should play 30 plus minutes tonight and should be the highest scoring guard on the slate.

Value Picks:  Angel Robinson (FD)  Briann January (FD)  Devereaux Peters (FD & DK)

FINAL THOUGHTS

  1. The point spread on the PHO/LV game looks a little low. I’ll take the underdogs on the road and the over in this game. The early game should come in under the point total and I think NY will cover the spread.
  2. It’s no secret that I do not like targeting Liberty players, with the exception of Tina Charles. That said, it’s a short slate and injuries have opened up value in the backcourt. Sugar Rodgers seems like the safest play of the bunch. Keep an eye out on Twitter for the starting lineup and go from there.
  3. I won’t have much exposure to the stars in NY/CON game. If you can nail down the right value picks and mix them with a few key players from the late game you should be well on your way to having a profitable night.
  4.  It’s August so that means it’s time for FIT Month in the WNBA. This includes Breast Health Awareness. Check out the link to support a great cause and get an autographed jersey from an Indiana Fever player.
  5. Injuries that could impact the slate: Epiphanny Prince (out), Shavonte Zellous (out)
