Fortnite Friday is a weekly review of what is going on in the world of Fortnite. We cover the battle pass challenges, new game modes and any update information you need to know.

Fortnite Friday is a weekly column covering everything happening around the popular 100-person multiplayer showdown game, Fortnite: Battle Royale. This week provides a fun new battle pass challenge, a controversial weapon and a wild game mode.

The guided missile was vaulted from Fortnite after many players complained that it was far too powerful. This week, it was brought back (relax, it’s been heavily nerfed).

Rockets are the theme of week 4, with the Fly Explosives LTM making its return as well. If you love explosions and jet packs, you’ll enjoy spending some time in this game mode.

Before anything else, let’s get those week 4 challenges cleaned up. Here are the challenges and how to solve them:

Free challenges

Build structures (0/250)

Really, Fortnite? This is likely the easiest challenge they’ve ever offered up as there is no skill or difficulty involved. Build. This should take you a couple matches without even thinking of the challenge.

Jump through flaming hoops with a shopping cart or ATK (0/5)

This challenge is possibly the most fun challenge the game has ever required. Flaming hoops have been placed throughout the map and players must put on their daredevil caps and get to jumping.

Some of the hoops are out in the open so some ramp building will be required. The challenge is easier to complete with an ATK, but likely more fun/funny to do with a shopping cart. Here are the flame hoop locations:

Eliminate opponents in Dusty Divot (0/3)

This challenge is slightly more difficult now that Dusty Divot has grown into a miniature combination of Moisty Mire and Wailing Woods. Still, the area will be busy enough for the next week to get some eliminations in.

Battle pass challenges

Deal damage with sniper rifles (0/500)

500 damage with a sniper rifle is only a few hits to the head or body. Depending on the weapon, this challenge can be completed in one match. Grab a sniper or hunting rifle and aim for the head for maximum damage.

Search chests in Flush Factory (0/7)

Flush Factory is in need of a makeover. It’s likely the next location to be overhauled as it’s popularity is in the toilets. Still, the folks over at Epic Games are forcing us to land here this week and search it’s awful layout for chests. To make life easier, here are the chest spawn locations at Flush Factory.

Search between a gas station, a soccer pitch and stunt mountain (0/1)

Almost immediately, you know this is near Pleasant Park. Here’s a quick video showing the stars exact location:

Pistol eliminations (0/3)

This one is pretty self-explanatory. If you find dual pistols, use them because they are far better in close range situations and head shots. The suppressed pistol will also do the trick.

Limited Time Game Modes

Fly Explosives – Explosives and jet packs. That’s it. This is more or less what would happen if Michael Bay directed Fortnite. This LTM is a great way to change things up from time to time and have some fun with a loadout full of rockets and grenades. Here’s a clip of the game mode:

Playground mode custom games – One of the beautiful things about playground mode is that users are free to create their own games with friends. Test your skills against your buddies in a traditional match or try out one of these incredibly fun games.

There are two custom games that have gone viral so far. “Battleship” by popular streamers Nick Eh and SanchoWest and “Michael Myers” as seen in Fortnite pro, Muselk’s stream. Here are the two custom games in action (Skip to about 1:25 in MrMuselk’s video to get the rules of the game).

The opportunities in the playground LTM are endless so get in there with the squad and create some games of your own.

Update v5.1 patch notes and news

Guided missile returns – As mentioned in the top of this post, the controversial guided missile has returned. It’s been slowed down, weakened and rendered mostly a scouting tool now. Here are the updated stats on version 2.0 of the GM:

  • Fuse duration reduced from 18 to 15 seconds.
  • Movement Speed decreased from 1100 to 1000.
  • Reload time increased to 2.4/2.2.
  • Reduced player damage from 105/110 down to 74/77 damage.
  • Reduced structure damage down from 1100 to 400.

Elimination of the week

This week’s EOTW is a doozy from popular FaZe Clan Fortnite player Cizzorz, who clearly knows his way around a hunting rifle. This is ridiculous.
