4. Oleksandr Usyk

Record: 15-0, 11 KOs

While it is uncommon for someone with just 15 fights to rank so highly, Usyk undoubtedly belongs. He posses elite boxing skills, as well as the resume to back it up.

Usyk entered the WBSS as the favorite and proved the oddsmakers right. In one of the most impressive performances in recent memory, Usyk was able to dominate Murat Gassiev in the final round of the tournament.

Defeating the second best fighter in your division is impressive enough, but the way Usyk won was what was so impressive.

Gassiev, a monster puncher, lost just about every round, and was able to land only a couple of punches that were worth noting. The three judges scored it 120-109, 119-109 and 119-109.

The most incredible part of the domination? Usyk traveled to Gassiev’s home country of Russia for the fight.

It was a boxing clinic, and the type of performance that stays in the minds of fans. The footwork and skills on display were incredible, especially for a man who is over 200 lbs.

With the win, Usyk claimed all four recognized belts in the division, \becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion. The best cruiserweight since the great Evander Holyfield, Usyk has put himself in the elite tier among active boxers.

As well as being the undisputed champion, Usyk had an impressive amateur career, including a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.

Usyk is a complete package: He has the amateur pedigree, the pro resume and the skills necessary to put himself in the top five pound-for-pound. It will be interesting to see if he stays and dominated the cruiserweight division, or if he goes for the bigger challenge and moves up to heavyweight.

Next fight: There have been rumors swirling of a potential move up to heavyweight to face Tony Bellew. I for one, would love if Andre Ward were to come out of retirement and challenge Usyk, but that is just my wish and there are no talks of that fight happening.
