Boxing top 10 pound-for-pound list: Loma leads the way
2. Terrence ‘Bud’ Crawford
Record: 33-0, 24 KOs
Crawford is truly a special fighter. He became the undisputed champion at junior welterweight when he knocked out unified champion Julius Indongo. After claiming all of the belts, he decided to move up in weight, and challenge welterweight champion Jeff Horn.
Taking place this June, Crawford put on a clinical performance. Despite moving up in weight and Horn struggling to make weight, Crawford appeared to be the physically stronger fighter of the two, as he imposed his will on the champion.
Crawford had a near perfect performance, which ended with the ref stopping the fight in the ninth. All three judges had Crawford up 80-72 at the time of the stoppage.
Crawford, like Lomachenko, possess incredible skill. For my money, they are the two most skilled fighters in the world.
However, in terms of ranking these two, the edge goes to Lomachenko, mostly due to the fact that Lomachenko has fought better opponents. That is not Crawford’s fault, as he was in a weaker division, but it is what separates the two of them.
Next fight: Crawford currently does not have a fight lined up; however, the boxing world is anxiously awaiting a potential super-fight with Errol Spence. These two fighters are clearly the two best welterweights, and are in their primes.
Both fighters seem willing to fight the other, but there are some hurdles jump in order to make the fight, as Spence is with PBC and Crawford with Top Rank. If both fighters continue to dominate, there will be enough hype surrounding the fight to make it a PPV event, which is likely the only way for both sides agree to work together.
Money talks.
