When Better Call Saul returns for season 4, there will be a gaping hole in the middle of the cast.
Jimmy McGill’s brother, Chuck, has passed away, dying in a house fire after suffering a mental breakdown. Chuck was the only person that kept Jimmy in check, and called him out for the numerous times he has broken the law despite being a lawyer. Their relationship did not end on the best of terms, with Chuck’s last words to Jimmy being “you didn’t mean that much to me.”
While Jimmy may have hated Chuck, he’ll still be broken up over the loss of his brother. But he’ll have to get over it, as well as the loss of his elderly clients. While his license was suspended, he coaxed the good folks at Sandpiper into settling their lawsuit so he could make a quick buck. When he discovered that he alienated them, he confessed to everything over a hot mic.
He’ll have to build up his clientele from scratch, but perhaps this is the season when he transitions into opening the offices of Saul Goodman & Associates.

"In the Season 4 premiere, Jimmy struggles to cope with Chuck’s tragic death; Mike ponders his role at Madrigal; and Howard makes a startling confession."

Even though this premiere sounds like it’ll cover all the bases, Jimmy’s story still takes top priority. Without his brother around, we’ll see how long it takes before he personally breaks bad.
