Fantasy Baseball 2018: Pitchers to Add for Tuesday, August 7th
By Neil Ragavan
This article looks at some starting pitchers for Tuesday, August 7th that you should consider for your Fantasy Baseball lineup.
Rich Hill– Los Angeles Dodgers
Opponent: at Oakland
Rich Hill has turned around a season that was looking like a disaster for himself and Fantasy Baseball owners. Through five starts in April/May, he posted a 6.20 ERA. He has since lowered his ERA to 3.63, and has posted a 0.95 ERA through three starts post All-Star break. In his last three starts, he has allowed two earned runs total and has struck out 21. He has also been keeping the ball in the park, as he has only allowed two home runs in his last six appearances.
The A’s have been unbelievably hot recently, so from that standpoint, it might not look like the best matchup for Hill. However, this game will be at the Oakland Coliseum, which is known to be a pitcher’s park, and the A’s are near the bottom of the league in runs scored at home. Hill is also better on the road, as he has a 4.12 home ERA and a 3.09 road ERA.
Chase Anderson– Milwaukee Brewers
Opponent: vs. San Diego
Chase Anderson has been excellent for a good stretch now. In his last eight starts, he has not given up more than two earned runs, and has lowered his ERA from 4.54 to 3.65 in that span. He isn’t a huge strikeout guy, but he’ll give you a lot of good innings, and with Brent Suter done for the year, Anderson has become even more important to the Brewers, especially in the midst of a playoff push.
Anderson has a good matchup on Tuesday. San Diego has one of the top farm systems in baseball, and should be reaping the benefits of it soon, but currently, they are either last or near last in a multitude of offensive categories, including runs scored, slugging %, and OPS.
Mike Montgomery– Chicago Cubs
Opponent: at Kansas City
Initially a reliever, Montgomery has become a regular starter in the Cubs’ rotation, especially with the injury to Yu Darvish. He is coming off a decent start against the Padres, in which he went 5.1 innings, only giving up one earned, but only striking out two. He has been underwhelming overall in his last four starts, going 0-1 with a 4.64 ERA. However, I look for this start to a solid bounce-back for Montgomery. The Royals have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league this year and are clearly in rebuilding mode after trading Mike Moustakas to the Brewers. Look for Montgomery to put up some solid fantasy numbers during this start.
Best of luck this season, and stay tuned to Fantasy CPR for all the latest Fantasy Baseball news and analysis!
