1. New England Patriots: 11 wins — Over

At some point, people will learn that betting against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick is a really bad idea. The money is already pouring in on the side of the over, but there’s still time to get on the train. -155 doesn’t represent a great return, but this is a really safe bet nonetheless.

As a reminder, the Patriots went 13-3 last season. Vegas is asking you to believe they are going to regress by two games in 2018. Are we really supposed to think the Bills, Jets and Dolphins are ready to threaten New England’s perch atop the AFC East? We’re still a year or two away from that dream becoming a reality.

Instead, it’s smart to expect the Patriots offense to continue to put up big numbers with Brady at the controls. Cynics will point to the lack of obvious wide receiving talent on the team and predict a decline. That’s never bothered Brady before. Many of his best seasons have come with a pretty anonymous receiving corps.

The defense lacks big names, but Belichick always manages to churn out an above-average unit with his schematic genius. When you add an above-average defense to an elite offense you typically get a team that will win a lot of football games. 13 wins might be the median outcome again for New England this season. Feel comfortable taking the over on this one even if you aren’t a big fan of the way the Patriots do business.
