Ranking every Premier League team’s new kits
4. Manchester City
The champions come into the new season with two very strong kits. The home option is the traditional light blue with white shorts, always a classic look. The change to the new badge continues to pay off, as it looks great on both the jersey and the shorts.
City lost only one game at the Etihad last season, so it makes sense that they would stick with the usual home strip.
The away kit is dark blue with light blue and yellow stripes, and is also well designed. Nike has generally treated City pretty well since taking over for Umbro (aside from the orange and blue third kit City wore two seasons ago), so it’s no surprise that they have two very attractive options this season.
The away kit is a throwback of sorts, to the 1998-99 season, when City won the second division play-off in a thrilling game that went to penalties.
City wore a very nice away kit last season, as their maroon number was one of the better away uniforms in the entire league. Maybe this one will give them as much success as the last one did, as they won 16 of 19 of their games away from home in 2017-18.
A team with the level of prestige that City has earned in recent years should have kits that reflect that prestige, and they will this season.
Pep Guardiola has been known to be quite the stylish individual on the touchline, and his team can once again complement him in that regard.
