18. Cardiff

Newly-promoted Cardiff come into the league with a fairly unremarkable set of uniforms. The home kit is a basic blue and white, a design that isn’t too bad on its own. The problem for Cardiff lies with their sponsor, which might be the worst in the entire league. “VISIT MALAYSIA” in plain, sans-serif font. Surely the Malaysian tourism committee could have at least come up with a more attractive typeface?

Cardiff’s away option is more of the same essentially, only with the colors inverted. Again, it’s not the worst kit we’ve ever seen, but we also don’t see too many people running to the team shop to pick it up. There’s nothing to distinguish these kits from ones you might see a high school team wearing. For a team playing in one of the biggest leagues in the world, that’s a problem.

Adding a boring and uninspired sponsorship logo to a boring and uninspired kit makes for, you guessed it, a boring and uninspired result. Looking at these uniforms may lead you to believe that Adidas used some of their best designs at the World Cup, and that could very well be the case.

Cardiff should have a nice set of uniforms to mark their first season back in England’s top flight in six seasons. Instead, they’re going to look like a Sunday league team in these uniforms.

Cardiff may not be the most popular team in the world, but they deserve better than this from Adidas.
