Welcome to the latest installment of our daily series, a MLB DFS Cheat Sheet for DraftKings. Each article will include a Cheat Sheet followed by a corresponding slate summary to help assist players in constructing optimal lineups.

First off, a MLB DFS Cheat Sheet, when it comes to DFS, should never be used as the sole gauge when it comes to breaking down a slate. There is no substitute to extensive research and analysis collected from multiple platforms. However, a cheat sheet is primarily a great concise form of reference. It’s best used as an introductory guide in grasping an idea of your potential targets. Not to mention it’s very viable in constructing an initial build. Our MLB Daily DFS Cheat Sheet will list our projected top player at each position at three different price points, which will be labeled as “Tiers”. Each player listed will be paired with his current price and stats from their past 7 games. Now enjoy our MLB DFS Cheat Sheet for Draftkings Tuesday 8/7 Slate *Note: All stats provided by MLB.com and Pro Baseball Reference

MLB DFS Cheat Sheet Slate Summary

Tonight’s Tuesday slate features a 14 game “Coors” slate. Weather seems to play a minor factor today but nothing truly threatening. New York, Cleveland, Washington, Colorado, Chicago warrant some delay concerns but all bats should be relatively safe. As for pitching, its way too early to tell so make sure to monitor the forecast throughout the day in those respective locations.

More from FanSided

Pitching is rather interesting tonight. Max Scherzer is far and away the top arm tonight, which is indicated by his steep $13,900 price tag.  A price tag that is $2,400 more than Carlos Carrasco, the 2nd most expensive pitcher tonight. With high-profile bats in high projected run total situations, Scherzer doesn’t seem like the optimal play. Carrasco seems like the better play per dollar against a struggling Minnesota lineup.

However the two pitchers I like the most today and will have the most exposure to are Miles Mikolas and Tyler Glasnow. In Mikolas lone start against Miami this year he went 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 walk, giving up no earned runs while striking out 5. The weak Marlins offense continues to struggle, in their last 5 games they have been unable to score more than 3 runs in any game. At an affordable $9,000 price tag, Mikolas is a safe bet. Newly acquired and highly electric Glasnow is more of a GPP play due to the uncertainty of the Rays plans for him at the moment. There’s a possibility he doesn’t pitch more than 3 innings. But he’s in a great spot against a weak Orioles offense in pitcher friendly Tropicana. The gamble might be well worth it.

As for hitting, as previously mentioned it’s a “Coors” Slate so all bats there warrant heavy consideration. If fading “Coors” there are 3 stacks that everyone should be over the field on. Tampa Bay lefties vs RHP Alex Cobb, Los Angeles Angels lefties vs RHP Jacob Turner, all Seattle bats vs RH Bartolo Colon.

Two batters that I’m currently locking into most lineups that are economical  and should exceed value are Kole Calhoun and Joey Wendle. Calhoun is a no brainer, dude is rolling right now slugging .662 ever since his return from the DL and his average exit velocity is up 5 mph. He’s putting the ball in the air and often. Now he gets to meet a young potential gas can in Jacob Turner who’s making a spot start after the Tigers traded away Mike Fiers to the A’s. Speaking of gas cans, Alex Cobb is another one. Joey Wendle has 4 hits in 8 at bats against him, with a .500 SLG and 91.4 mph average exit velocity. Wendle is raking right now, so expect another multi-hit game today, even possibly a long ball. Now go make those winning lineups!
