MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: August 7th

Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 14 games with, Pittsburgh (5.7), Seattle (5.6), Texas (5.5), Colorado (5.4), Cleveland (5.3), and New York (5.3), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers like, Max Scherzer, Carlos Carrasco, and Zack Greinke available, finding value will be critical for success tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, and stolen base upside.

MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats

Phillip Ervin – DK $4100, FD $2300

Phillip Ervin will be one of the best value plays on the slate, on FanDuel tonight. Ervin will not only draw an enticing matchup against a lefty, but given his recent batted ball stats, he should be “due” for positive regression. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 29 feet, his exit velocity is up 3 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 10%, over his yearly average.

Batter Splits

Charlie Blackmon – DK $5100, FD $4200

Charlie Blackmon will draw an advantageous matchup tonight, as he faces the righty, Jameson Taillon. Blackmon is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .388 wOBA split (.036 better than when facing a lefty) and a .266 ISO split (.121 better than when facing a lefty). Blackmon does come with an expensive price tag, but may be worth considering if you have the extra salary.

Jeff McNeil – DK $3400, FD $2700

Jeff McNeil is another lefty to examine tonight, as he faces the righty, Sal Romano. McNeil is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .467 wOBA split (.075 better than when facing a lefty) and a .267 ISO split (.267 better than when facing a lefty). McNeil has been hitting the ball extremely well of late, exceeding value in each of his last three games. It also should be noted that the wind will be blowing out to center at around 12 MPH, at Citi Field tonight.

Stolen Base Upside

Cincinnati Runners

Cincinnati runners will draw another attractive matchup again tonight, as they face the lefty, Jason Vargas. Although he is a lefty, Vargas has allowed seven stolen bases, in just 47 innings pitched, this year. This should benefit runners such as, Billy Hamilton and Jose Peraza.
