4. Cincinnati Bengals

Andy Dalton is firmly entrenched as the Bengals starter at the moment. On the surface, that doesn’t seem like a bad then. Dalton certainly isn’t the player holding Cincinnati back from making the playoffs.

On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine Dalton really helping the Bengals make a Super Bowl run. His ceiling as a signal caller just isn’t high. If Marvin Lewis really wants to make a move to energize his offense, going from Dalton to Bridgewater might be just the ticket.

At the very least, the Bengals should think about acquiring a significant upgrade at the backup quarterback position. Neither Matt Barkley or Jeff Driskel is going to help this team win games. A.J. Green and the rest of the skill players on this unit deserve better options.

Just like Miami, don’t expect Cincinnati to be willing to rock the boat at the quarterback position. Right or wrong, the organization seems to be firmly committed to Dalton as the leader of their offense. His rein shouldn’t last too much longer, but this season is probably a year or two early for the franchise to make such a drastic change. As long as Lewis is in charge Dalton’s starting place should be safe. That doesn’t make it the right choice, just the obvious one.
