Fantasy- 32 Teams in 32 Days: The Detroit Lions
By Matt Mikolas
Off-Season Overview – Fantasy Football Preview – Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are trending up!
They have to be. The last two years, they’ve finished 9-7. No longer NFC North cellar dwellers, the Lions aren’t even the only team to go 0-16 anymore!
Matthew Stafford and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter’s passing game make Detroit a team littered with fantasy talent. Even though the Lions haven’t had a 100 yard rusher since Reggie Bush in 2013, they still have one of the most electric offenses in the league, and there are some definite things to like. Love, even.
For now, Golden Tate and Marvin Jones are the major targets in the passing game. Ameer Abdullah should add some slight value in the passing game as well. Rookie Kerryon Johnson has had a strong camp, and could figure in later this season as well.

I Gotta Get Me One of Those!
Tate has emerged in the last few years as a really nice fantasy option at wide receiver. I think you can now call him a consistent 1,000 yard receiver in this offense. He leaves a little to be desired in terms of touchdowns, but Eric Ebron‘s departure might create a couple more of those for Golden.
Last year’s big dog though was Marvin Jones. 1,100 yards, 9 scores … it’s a big role, and he fills it beautifully. The point is, this offense moves, and it moves through the air. Either receiver would be a great addition to your roster.
Buyer Beware
As I mentioned before, the Lions haven’t been successful in the running game in quite some time. And Barry Sanders ain’t walking through that door. The drafting of Kerryon Johnson says to me that Abdullah’s days in Detroit are likely numbered. He’ll have to put up big numbers early to not get overtaken. All past evidence points against that happening.
Stay Woke
I mentioned earlier that Ebron is gone. Luke Willson flies in from Seattle to take over the starting tight end spot. I like grabbing any part of this passing offense you can. Willson doesn’t have tremendous size, but he’s a speed guy. real good catch and run talent. Think about taking a flier on Willson if you find yourself late in the draft needing a tight end.
