Former Lynx, Sun, and Storm player Renee Montgomery looks right at home in Atlanta. She scored 24 points against the Wings yesterday. The Dream are on the second day of a back-to-back and are looking for their sixth straight win. Interesting fact: In 2010 Montgomery was involved in a trade that led to the Sun selecting Tina Charles as the overall #1 pick in the draft that year.

2:30 p.m. ET   Atlanta Dream (21-10)  vs.  New York Liberty (7-22)  161 O/U NY +4

ATL – Off rating   97.9   Def rating 96   Pace  81.7  Off ppg 80.9  Def ppg  78.9

NY – Off rating   97.3  Def rating 105.5    Pace 79.6   Off ppg  78.1  Def ppg   84.8

Key Players:

Jessica Breland – Breland had a decent game against Dallas yesterday. Atlanta is a game and half in front of Washington. If the Mystics lose today I expect Atlanta to take their foot off of the gas a bit and give their starters a break, especially after just losing Angel McCoughtry to injury. That said, her and Elizabeth Williams are still capable of putting up big numbers today against a weak NY frontcourt. Despite that, I’m more interested in the bench players like Alex Bentley and Monique Billings today for Atlanta.

Tina Charles – Charles is one of the more reliable options on the slate today, which says a lot about how things are shaping up. The offense runs through her, and she has one of the highest usage rates in the league at 29.1%. I won’t have too much exposure to her today, but she should get up for the Liberty’s last home game of the season. There are plenty of value options to pivot to in this game if you don’t feel like paying up for one of the studs.

Value Picks:  Kia Nurse (FD &DK)  , Monique Billings (FD &DK) , Amanda Zahui B (FD)  Kiah Stokes (FD & DK) *if she starts again.

3 p.m. ET   Chicago Sky  (11-19)  vs. Connecticut Sun (17-13)  178.5  O/U  CON -13.5

CHI – Off rating 101.7  Def rating  110  Pace  81   Off ppg  82.5   Def ppg  89.7

CON – Off rating  107.2  Def rating  101  Pace  80.9  Off ppg  87.2  Def ppg  82

Key Players:

Courtney Vandersloot – I faded Sloot the other day and it didn’t go well for me. She put up 20 points and 15 assists against the Sun, and rained on my day. LineStar has her projected to score 32.17 points on Fanduel. She’s a little pricey on DraftKings and I’m not expecting another huge performance from her today. That said I do want some exposure to her, Chicago may not have much of a shot at making the playoffs but they still are playing basketball like a team with something to prove.

Alyssa Thomas – Thomas and the rest of the Sun didn’t put up much of a fight against Chicago on Friday. They come into this game heavy point favorites though, and its a good matchup on paper. I would rather play Jonquel Jones or one of the guards from Connecticut, but I’m not rushing to stick any of them in my lineups today.

Value Picks:  Layshia Clarendon (FD) , Kahleah Copper (FD & DK)

A few weeks ago the Dallas Wings traded Aerial Powers to the Washington Mystics for Tayler Hill and some leverage in the draft, including a 2nd round pick next year. With Keala Davis out yesterday with illness Hill played 16 minutes scored ten points and grabbed three boards. Aerial Powers has taken a backseat the last few games but I expect both players to get a run today against their former teams. Which one do you want in your lineups today? Keep reading to find out.

3 p.m. ET  Dallas Wings (14-16)  vs. Washington Mystics (18-11)  TBD

DAL – Off rating   106.1  Def rating  102.4  Pace  81.9  Off ppg  87.2   Def ppg  84.2

WAS – Off rating 105.7  Def rating  103  Pace 79.5   Off ppg   85.1   Def ppg   82.3

Key Players:

Elena Delle Donne – EDD is one of my favorite plays on the board today. She wasn’t great against Dallas the last time these two teams played but if Cambage misses she will be in a great spot today. Even if Cambage plays I still like Delle Donne and want her in at least a few of my lineups. LineStar has her projected to score 39.29 points on Fanduel. Washington would love to get a second round bye and I expect EDD to do everything she can today to increase their chances with a win.

Skylar Diggins-Smith – Skylar was on fire yesterday scoring 26 points and 10 assists. She played almost 40 minutes though and could be a little tired heading into today’s game. That said I love her price on both sites and will have a good amount of exposure to her. LineStar has her projected to score 38.21 points on Fanduel. If Cambage misses again than everything should run through SDS and she should have no problem hitting value today.

Liz Cambage –  I think she will play today. She was questionable all the way up until tip-off yesterday, and Dallas really needs a win right now. Early this season she had a monster game against Washington with 35 points 17 rebounds. She’s a risky play today, but it could pay off well. If she misses again I expect the starters who fill in for Dallas to do better today than they did against Atlanta.

Value Picks:  Theresa Plaisance (FD & DK) , Tayler Hill (FD & DK) , Aerial Powers (FD & DK)

Final Thoughts

  1. There are a lot of players in the pool today. Picking one stud from each game, or two from the DAL/WAS game, and building around them with value should leave you with plenty of options today.
  2. I will be targeting the WAS/DAL and ATL/NY games today for my lineups
  3. We are still waiting on the spread to come out for the DAL/WAS game but I will probably take the over, especially if Liz plays and it’s around 182. I like Chicago against the spread and the ATL/NY game to stay under the point total.
  4. Good luck today, and enjoy the games. Remember to check back in a few hours for my article for tonight’s games.
  5. Injuries that could impact the slate: Liz Cambage (Ques), Damiris Dantas (Ques), Keala Davis (Sick)
