Detroit Lions – Kerryon Johnson

The Detroit Lions are another team that will be interesting to watch. Under new head coach, Matt Patricia the Lions will undoubtedly have a different look. I’m curious to see what he implements from the Patriots to the Lions.

With an already dangerous passing attack, I think it is likely that Patricia expands the running game by committee. If you look at the Lion’s roster, this team has several capable running backs: Theo Riddick, Ameer Abdullah, Legarrette Blount and rookie Kerryon Johnson. One of these guys will be the top fantasy option out of the Lions’ backfield and look for it to be Johnson.

If the Lions weren’t serious about Kerryon Johnson’s potential in the offense, they would not have drafted him so highly in the second round. He could be the next rookie running back that we see burst on to the NFL scene. If Patricia wants the offense to be more effective and move quicker, Johnson is the best option. Johnson is a decent receiver and shows very good burst out of the backfield. The Lions will look different this season and it is time to stop sleeping on their running backs.

Green Bay Packers – Jimmy Graham

The Packers surprised NFL fans last season with a disappointing 7-9 record. When Aaron Rodgers is your quarterback, that is highly unlikely. However, Rodgers was injured for the majority of last season. There is no question that this team will be more productive this season with a healthy starting quarterback. The Packers will be a contender for the NFC North because of their ability to move the ball through the air.

Jimmy Graham will be a very important piece of the puzzle for the Packers. While Graham did not have a great three-year stretch with the Seattle Seahawks, the Packers have a chance to make him look as good as when he started with New Orleans Saints. Graham will quickly become a favorite target for Aaron Rodgers. Look for Graham to score a lot of fantasy points off of touchdown receptions. He is an unbelievable athlete and will be a safety blanket for the Packers passing offense.

This is a chance for Graham to be a top five fantasy football tight end again.
