MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: August 13th
Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 10 games with, Arizona (5.5), Cleveland (5.2), Toronto (4.7), Chicago (4.6), and St. Louis (4.6), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced pitchers like, Jacob deGrom and Luis Severino available, finding value will be critical for success tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, and stolen base upside.
MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats
Curtis Granderson – DK $4200, FD $3100
Although he hasn’t been filling the stat sheet of late, Curtis Granderson has been hitting the ball better than his fantasy production would indicate. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 15 feet, his exit velocity is up 5 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 15%, over his yearly average. Granderson does have some value on DraftKings tonight, and could benefit from facing a righty.

Batter Splits
Michael Brantley – DK $5300, FD $3800
Michael Brantley will draw an advantageous matchup as he faces the righty, Homer Bailey. Brantley is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .363 wOBA split (.081 better than when facing a lefty) and a .181 ISO split (.072 better than when facing a lefty). Brantley is a much more attractive option on FanDuel, where he only costs $3800.
Justin Turner – DK $3900, FD $3400
Justin Turner should draw the start tonight, as the Dodgers take on Madison Bumgarner and the Giants. Turner is much better against left-handed pitching, with a .416 wOBA split (.081 better than when facing a righty) and a .197 ISO split (.020 better than when facing a righty).
Stolen Base Upside
Chicago White Sox Runners
There are some decent matchups for base stealers tonight, one of which being the Chicago White Soxs’ runners vs. Artie Lewicki. Lewicki has been very susceptible to stolen bases this year, allowing 5 stolen bases over the course of 34 innings pitched. This should benefit base stealers like Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada, and Yolmer Sanchez.
Cincinnati Runners
Another attractive option from a stolen bases perspective is the Cincinnati runners against the righty, Mike Clevinger. Clevinger has surrendered 13 stolen bases, over the course of 146.2 innings pitched this year. While he will most likely be batting 9th, this does provided an added boost to Billy Hamilton, who has stolen 29 bases this year (2nd most).
