What your summer basketball jersey says about you
Summer is the perfect time to break out your basketball jerseys, but be careful, your jersey of choice reveals more than just your upper arms.
It’s summer!
School’s out, the livin’ is easy, the groove is slightly transformed, and the weather is fine. There couldn’t be a better time to show your love of basketball (and your sweet arms) than now.
Wearing a basketball jersey is normally a bold choice. It’s hard to pull off. It’s difficult to get right. The cut of a jersey is made for function, not fashion. They’re meant to grace the bodies of some of the world’s most finely tuned athletes and help them move freely while they play the beautiful game. They’re not especially flattering for most…normal-bodied humans. Also, it’s typically not polite to walk around with bare arms (although it is your right to do so*), and wearing a t-shirt under a jersey is just flat out dorky**.
*I apologize for this joke.
**I do not apologize for this.
But in the summer anything goes. You’ve got heat to beat, sun to soak up, and freshly-waxed armpits the world’s just gotta see. So don’t be ashamed, grab that vintage Champion-brand replica jersey you’ve been keeping in the attic since middle school and hit the town.
Just know this: While you may think wearing that jersey is a simple fashion choice to show support of your favorite player or team, certain jerseys tell much more about the wearer than you may be aware. Some jerseys can reveal character traits, good and bad, that let the world know who you really are deep down inside.
Whatever do we mean?
We’re glad you asked.
