13. Michigan State Spartans – Brian Lewerke, QB

The Spartans are a team that can contend for the Big Ten East this season. To do so, they will also need their quarterback to be at the top of his game.

Last season, Brian Lewerke finished with a completion percentage just south of 60, but he exceeded in not giving the ball away (just seven interceptions). Lewerke is entering his fourth season with the Spartans in 2018, and now the burden will fall on him as the most valuable player for Michigan State.

If you roll back last year’s film, Lewerke has some polish to his game. He stands in and delivers strikes when he needs to, and he’s able to work through some reads. If he continues to progress, Lewerke will be dangerous from inside the pocket in 2018.

While L.J. Scott may be the most talented player for the Spartans (his 1,000 yards from scrimmage set him apart from the crowded Spartan backfield), Lewerke is the player that will keep Michigan State in the game against Ohio State and Michigan along with keeping them afloat down the stretch.
