MLB Fantasy: New Waiver Wire Options for You to Pick Up!
MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options for You to Pick Up
Hello and welcome to another MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options. The fantasy baseball season is inching closer to the playoffs, which means it is time to find that player to put your team over the edge. It has been a great few weeks in baseball with a lot of young talent proving themselves to be future stars.
It has been a delight watching young stud Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals, who may be the Bryce Harper replacement if he decides to sign elsewhere next season. It is also hard to miss Ronald Acuna, who is currently on a five game home run streak. He has gone three consecutive games leading off with a home run and has 19 homers through 67 career games.
Now, it may not be pertinent to fantasy baseball, but there has been an unbelievable display of defense this season as well, with Adam Engel of the White Sox robbing three home runs in the past week. Also, If you are a fan of baseball in general, you likely saw one of the greatest throws you will ever see in the A’s and Angels game. Ramon Laureano of the A’s ran 76 feet to make the catch at the warning track, then decided to double crow hop and chuck it to first. He threw the ball on a 321 foot frozen rope, 91.2 MPH to double off Eric Young Jr.

Let’s see if we can find you that hitter or pitcher to help lead your team to the playoffs and beyond!
MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options: Outfield
OF Hunter Renfroe San Diego Padres (ESPN 17.5% – Yahoo! 12%)
Renfroe is a beast at the plate. He doesn’t let Petco Park hold him back as he has matched his home and road home run totals at six and six. Last year, the right-handed outfielder proved his easy power with 26 home runs and a .236 ISO. Through 75 games in 2018, he has 12 home runs and 39 RBI’s while keeping the ISO consistent at .233.
OF David Dahl Colorado Rockies (ESPN 6.9% – Yahoo! 9%)
The former top-10 pick in the 2012 draft, David Dahl was off to a great start in all categories after joining the Rockies big league club in 2016. He showed all the tools you want in a fantasy player, and had Coors Field to help boost his value. However, he would eventually go down with an injury and had not really played much since, until now!
With Gerardo Parra struggling, and Carlos Gonzalez getting up their in age. Dahl is still a young option at just 24 years old. The tools are still there as he is finally healthy. Through 40 games with the Rockies, five home runs, 10 runs, 16 RBI’s and three stolen bases. If he can earn himself regular playing time, he could be a nice option for the end of your season.
OF Cedric Mullins Baltimore Orioles (ESPN 4.1% – Yahoo! 5%)
The rookie Cedric Mullins is not a big guy, at 5’8” and 175 lbs. Baseball has proven to be a sport that is not reliant on size, as some of the best players are smaller (i.e. Jose Altuve, Mookie Betts, and Jean Segura to name a few).
Since being called up to the Orioles, Mullins has good speed to go along with a .450 wOBA and a 190 wRC+. He has not had much of an opportunity to show us the speed in the big leagues yet but we will see it sooner rather than later. He has spent time with both AA and AAA affiliates and has totaled 21 stolen bases thus far.
OF Manuel Margot San Diego Padres (ESPN 23.2% – Yahoo! 30%)
Margot is another speedster for you, and one with a little more experience in the show. Last year he showed the ability to use his wheels, but also showed the pop with 13 home runs. Once again, Margot has double-digit stolen bases with 10 and looks to add to that throughout the rest of the season.
MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options: Infield
1B Ronald Guzman Texas Rangers (ESPN 3.7% – Yahoo! 4%)
Guzman is fresh off a new, obscure record. He is the first rookie to hit three home runs in a game against the Yankees. This game was not a fluke though. No, you can not expect him to hit three home runs in another game, but the power is for real. He boasts an above average ISO of .193 and hits the ball in the air 35.8% of the time, leading to a 17.9% HR/FB rate.
According to ESPN.com MLB Park Factors, the Globe Life Park in Arlington ranks as 3rd best for home runs and 1st in runs. As a left-handed batter, Guzman gets to pull the ball to the shortest part of the park in right field. This, along with the three-homer game at Yankee Stadium has helped him reach 13 home runs and multi-hit games in three out of the last four outings.
INF David Bote Chicago Cubs (ESPN 3.8% – Yahoo! 2%)
Part of this addition comes after his dramatic walk-off grand slam Sunday night off of Nationals closer Ryan Madson. Down 3-0 in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded, Bote gets the call to pinch hit. He proceeds to work the count to 2-2. It really is a scenario kids dream of. Ultimately, this led to his jersey being ripped off and having blue Gatorade poured over his head.
With Kris Bryant shelved on the DL with a shoulder issue, Bote has stepped in nicely. He has hit for average at .329 and shown occasional power in his 34 games with three home runs and 18 runs batted in. With the AA Tennessee Smokies last year he hit for double-digit home runs, and had double-digit home runs in AAA prior to being called up to the big league club. When Bryant gets back, he may lose a little playing time. But he will likely give the regulars a day off every once in a while between now and the end of the season.
INF Jonathan Villar Baltimore Orioles (ESPN 13.8% – Yahoo! 44%)
Remember just a few years back when Villar broke out in 2016 with 19 home runs, 63 RBI’s, 92 runs, and 62 stolen bases? Last season he slumped in each of those categories as it would have been difficult to sustain those types of numbers. One number that you can count on with Villar though is the speed.
Through 98 games, he has 15 stolen bases. He was recently traded to a bottoming Baltimore Orioles squad that should use him in their line up on a regular day basis. Since joining the Orioles, he is batting .273 with a home run, four runs scored, four runs batted in and a stolen base. He has played the entirety of every game with no less than four plate appearances.
1B Tyler White Houston Astros (ESPN 2.2% – Yahoo! 3%)
White has done his job in AAA proving to be a power hitter with 25 homers and 89 RBI’s last year. He has continued that tear since getting the call to the 2017 World Series champs. Through 27 games he has a ridiculous .274 ISO with 5 home runs and 11 RBI’s. On top of that, he makes hard contact 35.7% of the time.
MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Options: Pitcher
SP Touki Toussaint Atlanta Braves (ESPN 12.6% – Yahoo! 8%)
Toussaint was brought up for his debut against the Miami Marlins. Not one of the better offenses in the league, but a great opportunity for a young pitcher to gain confidence. Now we do need to be wary as he was brought up for a spot start in a double-header. But his performance proved he could be an important piece of this rotation.

He was impressive in that debut going six strong innings with four strike outs and earning the win. He only allowed two hits and one earned run along with two walks. Toussaint has good speed on his fastball and sinker, which sits in the mid-90’s and also throws a curveball and a split-finger.
SP/RP Tyler Glasnow Tampa Bay Rays (ESPN 19.3% – Yahoo! 27%)
The Rays have been impossible to count on when looking at their pitchers because they are going with the playoff mindset starting relievers. However, Tyler Glasnow, one of the pieces in the Chris Archer trade has really bloomed in his few opportunities with his new team.
The walks need to go down, but he has not given up more than one earned run in an outing since July 7th. He has pitched in three games with the Rays and already recorded 20 strikeouts in just 12 innings. If he continues with 15 K/9, it almost doesn’t matter if he is getting starter-type innings or being used more as a long reliever. He struggled in his time in the National League, and may be blossoming in the American League with a change of scenery.
