College football fans can now watch games on ESPN+. Here is a look at what we know.

We are now just weeks away from the start of college football. Fall practices are in full swing, the tailgating grills are heating up and fans are preparing for five months of watching their favorite teams in action for 2018. While thousands will be watching from inside stadiums around the country, most fans will be watching college football from home.

College football games will be broadcast this season largely on the FOX, CBS and ESPN family of networks. For ESPN, a new subscription service was announced in April that will allow fans to stream all college football games at home. On April 12, a new app was founded called ESPN Plus (ESPN+ for short).

ESPN+ will show similar content to ESPN3, which is exclusive to internet and TV subscribers. This new service is not meant to replace ESPN’s streaming service, Watch ESPN, and be the new source of content. ESPN+ is meant to give fans a new and more convenient way of accessing network content and live programming through the new ESPN app. In its simplest terms, this the Watch ESPN app that users are used to but features more content, not on standard cable and is easier to access.

Many fans who watch games on ESPN might be thinking: Well what do we get? How much? Users who pay for ESPN+ will have the ability to watch live events from the NBA, MLB, MLS, PGA golf, tennis, the Canadian Football League (CFL) and, probably most importantly, college athletics. This means if college football fans do not have standard cable, ESPN+ is the place to go to catch all their favorite teams.

ESPN+ has two different subscriptions. One is for $5 per month and the other is for $50 per year. Users can also check out the service with a seven-day free trial.
